It’s win or bust for Castleford in their race for the top five – lose here and they will need results to go their way on the last weekend of the regular season and to beat Wigan away. A win, however, would take them into fifth place, leapfrogging their opponents Hull. A victory for Hull, meanwhile, would confirm their play-off spot.

Whilst the Tigers have won four of their last six, the Airlie Birds have won just two, including a 22-12 loss to struggling Huddersfield last weekend. FC fans can, however, take confidence from the fact that they have beaten Castleford twice already in 2019.

The stats also make interesting reading because the Tigers have won three of their last four home games whilst Hull have triumphed in three of their last four away games, leaving this result incredibly hard to call.

Castleford head coach Daryl Powell makes just one change as Matt Cook – who hasn’t played for two months – comes in for Jacques O’Neill. Hull FC, meanwhile, are boosted by the return of influential trio Albert Kelly, Mark Minichiello and Ratu Naulago. The trio replace Kieran Buchanan, Jordan Lane and Joe Westerman in the squad for the clash in West Yorkshire.

Betters will have their work cut out calling this one; Castleford’s defence against St Helens was outstanding, but their attack was non-existent. Fix the attack up and the Tigers could quite easily make the top five. But, Hull are perhaps the most inconsistent side in Super League.

As Forrest Gump once said, “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.” Well Hull are exactly the same and it all depends which Hull side turns up.
