Catalans V London
17 August 2019
French side Catalans have won just three of their last seven games to slip to 7th in Super League, whilst opponents London still find themselves rooted to the bottom after a third defeat to Castleford in 2019. In fact, the Broncos have won only once in six games, leaving them two points adrift of 11th-placed Hull KR – whom they play in their final three games.
London, however, do not need to fear travelling to the south of France after already claiming a huge scalp back in June. And, with the Dragons rife with indiscipline and infighting on the field against Leeds, the capital side have it within themselves to haul themselves closer to safety.
Steve McNamara has named a – surprisingly – unchanged squad to the one that went down 48-8 against Leeds last week with Sam Tomkins, Michael McIlorum, Fouad Yaha Sam Moa, Jason Baitieri and Jodie Broughton still out.
London head coach Danny Ward has, however, rung the changes with Ben Hellewell, Matty Fleming and Sadiq Adebiyi missing out whilst Rob Butler will serve his one game suspension. Matt Gee comes in with Ryan Morgan and Dan Hindmarsh both returning to the squad. Guy Armitage is the last to come in as he features in a first-team squad for the first time since signing for the club.
The belief is still very much in this London side; their 20-6 defeat against Castleford could have been much more had the Broncos’ defence not been so impressive. New signing Brock Lamb has fitted in well and could well provide the impetus for a desperate London. CATALANS FOR THE WIN
