Hull KR v Wakefield
18 August 2019
One of the most important games for both sides in their recent history, Hull KR v Wakefield promises to be rough and tough as both look to claw themselves away from the drop zone.
The Robins have won four of their last eight games, but Trinity have lost 11 of their last 12 – a remarkable feat considering the West Yorkshire club occupied a play-off spot in the early rounds. A losing run is almost more difficult to end than maintaining a winning run, given the lack of confidence and self-esteem missing in the Wakefield ranks.
Trinity have also lost against Hull KR already in 2019 whilst Rovers have won three of their last four home games – a statistic that won’t give Wakefield fans any confidence given their run of form.
Hull KR head coach Tony Smith welcomes back three players with Craig Hull, Mitch Garbutt and Kane Linnett all recalled. Will Dagger, George Lawler and Mikey Lewis make way.
Wakefield boss Chris Chester has named new signing Chris Green in the squad for his debut in place of David Fifita – who is out for the season - with Jordy Crowther replacing Pauli Pauli.
If Wakefield are going to end their losing run, what better way to do it than against those around you in the table. But, they will have their work cut out against a Robins’ side whose star halfback – Danny McGuire – is singlehandedly giving them every chance of staying in the top flight. HULL KR FOR THE WIN
