Hull KR coach Tim Sheens has conceded team is “in a bit of a hole” after they were blown away 54-6 by Warrington.

The Robins were smashed 56-12 by Hull FC on Friday and have now lost five of their past six matches, dropping them down to tenth on the Super League ladder.

Sheens confirmed that Mitch Garbutt and Tommy Lee have joined the club’s growing injury list.

Prop Garbutt is expected to be out for five to six weeks and will undero knee surgery.

The Australian said he was not embarrassed but disappointed by the heavy defeat to the Wolves.

“I’m not so much embarrassed as much as disappointed for everyone,” he said.

“It is difficult when we’re in this situation to produce magic out of nothing,”

“Right at the moment the youngsters out there today were really put under the pump.

“And guys that are playing busted to play, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to put a team out, the numbers would be surprising if I went through them.

“We are in a bit of a hole at the moment and it’s just time and effort’s going to work it out.

“We will get people back but it’s going to be a dark place for us at the minute until we do.”

Youngsters Owen Harrison, Adam Rooks and Harry Bardle all featured against Warrington.

Hull KR were missing the likes of Danny McGuire, Mose Masoe, Shaun Lunt, Lew Jewitt, Nick Scruton and Ryan Shaw on Easter Monday.

Sheens admitted there is “no hiding” from another big loss, Hull KR’s second in just four days..

“First half again we put up a fight, we had two tries that should have been tries and we failed to nail them,” he said.

“Then we came out and gave up, as we did against Hull, a try in the very first set. And wasted the opportunity to stay in the game, and then it was a matter of we just go worst.

“We lost Tommy Lee and then we started to struggle with the younger blokes who had to go out and fill the holes.”

“We simply missed tackles one on one. It was the same as on Friday – we dropped the ball early in sets.

“These were the things that really concern me because if you can’t complete them on a regular basis it’s going to come back and haunt you at the end of the game, particularly while you’re down in experience.

“Size and experience is our issue at the moment, and in the middle.

“Every time we turn a ball over it’s just pumping us, especially against big sides. You can’t do that and expect, when you’re in a weakened position, to survive.”

The Robins face Leeds at Headingley this Sunday.

With the Rhinos in 11th place on the ladder, just two points below Hull KR, it shaping up as a vital game for both clubs.

Sheens said it won’t be easy to restore confidence in his struggling side after the result against Warrington.

“That’s all you do, go back to square one,” he said.

“The first thing I’ve got to do is find out what sort of a side I’m going to have.”
