Wests Tigers v Newcastle Knights: Round 23 Preview
24 August 2019 - Written by BetEasy
It is a knockout finals game three weeks early for the Tigers and Knights when they meet in Campbelltown. The loser of Saturday afternoon’s match will find it difficult to feature in September and will it all to play for, this game should be a ripper.
The Tigers lacked leadership in a 32-12 loss to the Sea Eagles and two tries conceded just before half time cost them dearly in that one. The Knights finally got a win after six losses in a row, beating North Queensland 42-6.
Both teams will feature new hookers this week, without of favour Josh Reynolds earning a start at 9, while Danny Levi replaces the injured Connor Watson for Newcastle.
In round 19 when these two sides met in Newcastle it was a high scoring game, with the Tigers holding on to win 28-26.
The Wolf thinks this game will be just as exciting and with little to separate the two sides, the underdog Tigers offer good value at home.
- The Tigers have only had one player placed on report this season.
- Last time these two sides clashed at Campbelltown Stadium was Round 11, 2016. Tigers ran out
20 to 12 victors.
- Mitchell Pearce has played the Wests Tigers 19 times and has scored 14 tries against them. That’s
double to his next best of seven tries against the Dragons and Cowboys.
