There are currently 111 players who are seeking a full-time NRL contract for 2023 and will be trying to prove themselves during the preseason.
During their train and trial period these players will be earning just $1000 a week in their pursuit of a spot in their club’s top 30.
Most who miss out will likely still have a place in the game by being signed to a feeder club in the New South Wales or Queensland Cup.
The train and trial deal is not just reserved for young players trying to make a name for themselves as multiple players with NRL experience are looking to rebuild their careers.
Josh Reynolds has returned to the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs from Hull FC on a train and trial deal while Nathanial Roache has been given an opportunity at the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and Tristan Sailor at his father’s first club the Brisbane Broncos.
