Kristoffer Milligan has a lot invested in Norway Rugby League. He is one of the originals. Current President, Karl-Fredrick Velle describes him as “a living Rugby League legend in Norway. No-one shows the efforts and the joy of Rugby League better than Kristoffer Milligan”
He discovered rugby after playing football for many years and falling out of love with that sport because it didn’t really capture his robust style of play, Kristoffer then took a new path when offered the chance to try rugby league. The offer came from Warren Heilig and he has never look back. Warren took him under his wing and encouraged him to play as a hooker – Kristoffer picks up the story
“I was teamed with a club called Tromsø Polarbears, thrown in at hooker and I had an absolute blast. The thrill, excitement, pace, involvement and the environment were all incredible.
“I travelled home with my new experience at hand and instantly began the process of transforming our club to a rugby league club.”
On a personal level, Kristoffer progressed and gained international honours, something that he is very proud to have achieved. However, he continues to play a key role both on and off the field.
“Lots of good things have happened to Rugby League Norway. The domestic competition has grown – the quality of play has improved – the national squad is more professional than it has ever been and the management of clubs and competitions have a whole new depth to them.
“All in all, I think the future of rugby league in Norway is bright.”
Kristoffer has a new target in his sights and that is the generation of new players. He is motivated by the efforts of clubs such as Farsund Bobcats, Sandnes Raiders and Flekkefjord Tigers in regards to children’s rugby league and that provides him with the really motivation to get something going for the younger generation.
Given his history, you can be confident of success.
