Leeds coach Richard Agar believes the decision to red card Brad Singleton for a swinging arm at the head of Sam Kasiano was the right one.
Singleton was sent from the field in the 50th minute when he hit Kasiano hard at Headingley on Friday.
The prop was sent packing, but Agar had no issue with it.
“I think it was the right call,” he said.
“He smacked him on the chin, the tallest man on the field. Brad knows too.
“I’m not trying to heap any misery on Brad, he knew he got it wrong. I don’t think there was heaps of malice in it.
“I don’t think he went after him to try and do him any damage, he just got it wrong. He got his timing and target wrong and his feet weren’t close enough.
“He’s the guy we wanted to chase down from the inside and we talked all week about tackling him low. So he’s got it wrong.”
In a fiery Super League game at Headingley 19 penalties were dished out and both Konrad Hurrell and David Mead were sent to the sin-bin.
Hurrell was yellow carded for a tip tackle on Greg Bird while Mead was binned for a late tackle.
The convincing 48-8 win for the Rhinos moves them closer to safety from the relegation zone.
Leeds are currently in eighth place on the ladder with 20 points, four more than 12th placed London Broncos.
But with four games left, Agar still does not believe the Rhinos are completely safe from the drop just yet.
“I’d said for a long time, and I know it’s getting pretty boring, but one week at a time,” he said.
“Until we are mathematically possible… The points difference where we’re at compared to the four teams, I think That’s going to count for a point.
“I think you can add a point on to our league tally because I’d be disappointing the way these guys are travelling if we had any blowouts.
“You never say never, we have some good sides to play, but I just can’t see our boys at the minute… I shouldn’t be saying this should I… just the way we’re travelling.
“I’ve said even in games we’ve lost, we’re travelling OK. There’s still things we’ve got to fix up but I don’t feel like I’m dealing with a squad that is fearful of relegation or fearful of what’s around the corner.
“I’m dealing with a squad that is very determined, getting better every week, understanding each other’s role and just getting better as a team.
“Our new signings have helped us.”
