Leeds Rhinos got their 2022 season off to a winning start with a 34-6 Boxing Day victory over Wakefield Trinity at Headingley Stadium.
It was the first outing for Rhinos new halfback duo of Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer while James Bentley also featured. Jack Sinfield – son of Leeds legend Kevin – also came on in the second half as an interchange.
Wakefield also had a few new signings included in their side such as John Davetanivalu while Kobe Poching was on the bench – son of former Rhino and current Wakefield Head Coach Willie.

It was Wakefield who opened the scoring through Lewis Murphy however they wouldn’t cross again after their early score.
New arrival Sezer scored Leeds’ first try of the afternoon before Ash Handley crossed for a double either side of half-time.
Centre Harry Newman would also notch a brace in the second half before Tom Briscoe rounded out the scoring.
