Over the past couple of years rumours have spread of a rift between Rugby League Immortal Andrew Johns and former Channel Nine presenter Erin Molan.
Coming from when the two were both working for the network, reports suggested that Molan was originally moved away from Nine’s NRL programs due to an issue Johns had with her.
After getting her start in Rugby League programming on the now cancelled Footy Show as a news reporter Molan would eventually become Channel Nine’s main NRL presenter as she became the host of both The Footy Show and its Sunday version as well as hosting pre and post-game shows to mixed reviews from Nine’s audience.
Johns on the other hand has been a stalwart for Channel Nine since not long after he retired from playing in 2007 and has predominantly maintained the role of analyst whether that be on commentary or pre/post-game programming.
He and Molan co-hosted the revamped Footy Show in 2018 before the program was cancelled at season’s end.
Molan left Channel Nine at the end of 2021 to take up a role with News Corp with neither her nor Johns commenting on the supposed fallout between them until now.
In a recent interview with the host of the I’ve Got News For You podcast Andrew Bucklow, Molan was asked about her relationship with Johns.

“He [Johns] is an incredible commentator,” Molan stated.
“Look, the interest in it never ceases to amaze me.
“I guess I don’t really ever get into it because I just don’t see the need.
“I’ve moved on with my life.
“I’ve moved on from Channel 9.
“I had a great experience there for many, many years but it’s safe to say I’m very, very happy with what I’m doing now and I have absolutely no regrets in moving on from that environment.
“It’s safe to say that we wouldn’t catch up, but I wouldn’t say we’re not on speaking terms.
“I guess we just don’t really speak.”
Molan can now be heard every weekday on 2Day FM’s breakfast show alongside co-hosts David Hughes and Ed Kavalee.
She also has feature appearances on Sky News Australia while Johns is still at Channel Nine.
