When looking at the Brisbane Broncos fullback role some think the position is filled, while others are of the opinion that there are still multiple possibilities as to who will take the Broncos number one spot.
JAMAYNE ISAAKO
From all reports this man is the favourite and is likely to turn out as the Broncos fullback in round 1.
While Isaako has been used on the edges for the majority of his career thus far, he was signed by the Broncos as the long term replacement for Darius Boyd as fullback, his preferred role.
ANTHONY MILFORD
It is unlikely we will see Milford in the fullback role for the Broncos in 2020, as reports suggest he’s training in the halves with Brodie Croft, however we can’t leave out the last man to to wear the Brisbane number one jersey.
After having a relatively poor season in the halves, midway through 2019 Anthony Milford was moved back to fullback where his form significantly improved, not to mention he started out as a fullback in the NRL.
JACK BIRD
Since joining the Broncos in 2018 Jack Bird hasn’t had the best of luck with injuries and has struggled to find the consistent form he had at the Sharks.
A move to fullback could benefit Bird, getting him out of the way of the frontline defence, with freedom to drift in and out as a third half in attack, similar to a Kalyn Ponga.
DARIUS BOYD
After a luck lustre season in the position in 2019 it is unlikely Darius Boyd will be the Broncos fullback again, however his longevity in the position until then has him in contention for the role.
Boyd has consistently played in the fullback since joining the Dragons in 2009, winning a premiership with them playing fullback in 2010 and retaining the position for the next 10 seasons.
