A wooden spoon finish in 2018 is firmly in the back of the Eels minds as they head into an elimination final against the Broncos as $1.50 favourites. What a turnaround Brad Arthur’s side have made in 12 months to finish fifth after 25 rounds, winning 14 games. They host the Broncos at Bankwest Stadium for the second time this season, with Brisbane $2.60 outsiders.
The Broncos looked down and out midseason, but six wins and a draw from their past 10 games has seen them feature in September action.
These sides have split two games this season, with Parra 38-10 winners earlier this season and the Broncos snatching a 17-16 golden point win just two weeks ago.
This is the first final between these two proud clubs in 17 seasons. Their last meeting in finals came in 2002, with Brisbane winning 24-14.
Parra last won a final in 2009, but The Wolf can’t go past them in this one. The Broncos’ halves combination of Boyd and Turpin is unconvincing and the Eels have turned Bankwest Stadium into a fortress, winning 8 of 10 games at the venue this season. Take the Eels and the points.
