The Panthers and Knights have both had their moments in 2019, but both will play for pride in the final match of the home and away season at Panthers Stadium on Sunday.
It’s not often that teams with seven and six match winning streaks both miss finals, but a lack of consistency has hampered both clubs, who will mark 2019 as a major disappointment.
There are no outs for either club, with notable ins including Kaide Ellis, Jarome Luia, Josh Mansour, Kurt Mann and Jamie Buhrer.
Penrith has the historical edge in this match up, winning five of the past six against Newcastle, but it was Knights who won their last encounter in Penrith 20-12 in round 23 last season.
The Panthers earned a narrow 16-14 win in the Hunter in round 2, and with little separating the sides statistically and in the market, The Wolf is going to back Newcastle to get an odds-against win at the foot of the mountains to end their season with two wins in a row.
