The battle for the play-offs heats up as Castleford visit Wigan knowing a win confirms their place in the top five. But, they will have their work cut out against a Warriors side with just one loss in 12 games. Castleford, meanwhile, come into this fixture on the back of an impressive 44-12 victory over Hull FC – the side they leapfrogged in the table following that result.
There is bad news for the Tigers though as Wigan haven’t lost a home game since May, whilst Castleford have won just three times in seven games away from the Jungle and have lost their last four at the DW Stadium.
Wigan head coach Adrian Lam welcomes back Sean O’Loughlin and Ben Flower as Liam Marshall and Liam Farrell sit out due to injury and suspension respectively. Meanwhile, Tigers boss Daryl Powell names Chris Clarkson following his return from injury in place of Will Maher.
Though Wigan are in a tremendous run of form, the Tigers are coming into their own recently. Castleford’s defence has been truly impressive, conceding just 22 points in four games, but it must be on top if the West Yorkshire side are going to come away from Lancashire with a victory.
Could be the most entertaining game broadcast on Sky in a while, but home advantage is likely to pay.
