Ireland Rugby League has only been competing since 1995, with the Wolfhounds’ first competitive game a 26-22 victory over Scotland. Ireland also performed in the 1996 Emerging Nations World Championship, finishing as runners-up. Ireland have won some silverware with victory in the 1999 Triangular Cup (short-lived tournament between Ireland, Scotland and Wales).
Ireland have made eight appearances in the European Champions Cup, but have never won the tournament, though they have finished second on two occasions (2004 and 2012). Likewise, the Wolfhounds have qualified for five World Cups (2000, 2008, 2013, 2017 and 2021) and even made the semi-finals in the 2008 competition.
In 70 international games, Ireland have won 36, lost 31 and drawn three.
