Salford Red Devils are in talks with Niall Evalds and are out to re-sign him for 2021.
Evalds is off-contract at Salford at the end of this year.
In the past few seasons, the 26-year-old has emerged as one of the best fullbacks in Super League and in 2019 helped his club reach the grand final.
Red Devils director of rugby and operations Ian Blease confirmed his club is currently negotiating with Evalds for him to stay on at the AJ Bell Stadium.
“We’re in talks,” Blease told Everything Rugby League.
It is understood Salford are hoping to lock the Halifax product down for another two or three years.
Evalds is one of the top free agents available in the market and is expected to attract interest from other English clubs.
Before the season was stopped because of the Coronavirus in mid-March, the custodian had scored five tries and set up six others in seven appearances in 2020.

After coming through at Siddal, he debuted for the Red Devils in 2013 at the age of 19.
Evalds has spent time on loan at Oldham, Barrow and Halifax, and in total crossed 101 times in 146 appearances for Salford.
He has also played twice for the England Knights, including in last year’s 38-6 victory over Jamaica at Headingley.
