For seven seasons Aaron Woods played for the Wests Tigers in what many agree to be the best period of his career.
At the Tigers Woods would make his New South Wales State of Origin debut and go on to win the series with his state in 2014.
He would make his debut for Australia in that same year and eventually win the Rugby League World Cup with the Kangaroos three years later.
In 2018 he joined the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs on a lucrative deal but would leave the club after just 14 games and ended up at the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks where he remained until the end of 2021 before joining the St George Illawarra Dragons last season.
Woods is still under contract at the Dragons but was seen with his former teammate and Tigers assistant coach Benji Marshall on the Gold Coast suggesting he may be lured back to his old club.
Furthermore, The Daily Telegraph’s Phil “Buzz” Rothfield is reporting that a company looking to sponsor the Tigers would help facilitate a move for the forward back to Concord.
“There is very strong mail that the veteran forward could be heading back to his old club the Wests Tigers for a fairytale final season in the NRL,” said Rothfield.
“That a big third-party sponsor, not currently involved with the Wests Tigers, wants to contribute to make the deal worthwhile.

“Woods would not comment other than to say he is still under contract to St George-Illawarra.”
At 31 years old Woods’ NRL career is beginning to wind down and in the past he has spoken about how he would be open to a move back to the Tigers.
The next contract Woods signs will likely be his last so it would be fitting for him to finish his career where it all started.
If he was to join the Tigers in 2023 he would be a great replacement for the outgoing James Tamou through the experience he’d bring to the club.
Speculation has also risen lately that the Tigers were interested in David Klemmer from the Newcastle Knights but Woods would be the cheaper option.
