Clubs duke it out for Brierley

Three Super League clubs are out to sign off-contract Leigh fullback Ryan Brierley for 2022.

Brierley is off-contract at the end of this season after joining the Centurions on a one-year deal from Hull KR in October.

Everything Rugby League understands the 29-year-old free agent is attracting interest from at least three clubs for next year.

Brierley has switched from half-back to fullback since rejoining this season.

Despite the Centurions’’ struggles for results in Super League, the Scotland international has impressed at the back in his transition to fullback.

He is the club’s top try-scorer in 2021 with four tries from nine appearances, and also top for try assists with four.

Preston-born, he came through the Castleford academy but made his first-team debut for Leigh in 2012.

He spent four and half years at the Leigh Sports Village, helping them win two Championship grand finals, before joining Huddersfield in 2016.

The playmaker signed for Toronto a year later and made 40 appearances for the Canadian club, scoring 26 tries.

Brierley spent the 2020 season in Super League with Hull KR, crossing three times in 10 matches.
