St Helens and Wigan maintained the only 100 per cent records and Huddersfield broke their duck, in a round where Greg Inglis finally made his Betfred Super League debut.

Inglis, 34, who sat out Warrington’s opening five league and cup matches, scored one of nine tries to help his new club to a 50-26 victory over Hull KR at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday.

The former Australia international ended his two-year absence from the game when starting at left centre before moving to full-back in the second half.

Hull KR, fresh from back-to-back wins over Huddersfield and Leeds, had threatened to spoil the party as they led 18-12 at half-time and were level at 22-22 midway through the second half after veteran winger Ryan Hall scored the second of his two tries.

Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Jordan Abdull and Kane Linnett crossed for the visitors.

However, two tries from Josh Charnley and Ben Currie, and one each from Toby King, Daryl Clark, Jake Mamo and Danny Walker saw the Wolves dominate the final 20 minutes to secure a third win of the season and stay in touch with the early pacesetters.

Reigning champions St Helens scored three second-half tries as they overcame a spirited effort from struggling Leigh to clinch a 22-12 win at the Sports Village on Friday.

The winless Centurions had been level at the break after Matty Russell cancelled out a Sione Mata’utia try and a stunning effort from Anthony Gelling kept them in contention.

However, two ties in quick succession after the break from Lachlan Coote and Jack Welsby, followed by a further effort from Kevin Naiqama, saw the champions home.

Wigan ended Hull’s unbeaten record under coach Brett Hodgson with a 16-14 victory at the DW Stadium on Thursday.

The Warriors scored tries through Jackson Hastings, Liam Farrell and Jake Bibby, while wingers Adam Swift and Mahe Fonua got over the line for the visitors.

Castleford and Catalans Dragons both bounced back from defeats to stay in touch with the two leaders.

Danny Richardson kicked six goals from seven attempts, including a penalty from near halfway, to help the Tigers to a 28-18 victory over Salford at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Greg Eden, Liam Watts, Cheyse Blair and Jake Trueman all bagged tries for the visitors while Kevin Brown, Andy Ackers and Tui Lolohea touched down for the Red Devils.

Winger Tom Davies scored a hat-trick of tries for Catalans against Wakefield for the second successive season to help them to a 38-18 victory at the Mobile Rockets .

New Zealand international Dean Whare scored his first two tries for the Dragons, while Samisoni Langi and Mike McMeeken also crossed the whitewash as Catalans ran in 18 points in the last 12 minutes.

Trinity, who are still looking for their first win of the season, scored through Oliver Ashall-Bott, Max Jowitt and Reece Lyne.

A drop goal by Lee Gaskell in the last action of the match enabled Huddersfield to pip Leeds 14-13 to end their wait for a league win.

Leeds stand-off Liam Sutcliffe missed three drop-goal attempts in the last 16 minutes of a tense second half as the injury-hit Rhinos went down to a fifth consecutive defeat in all competitions, despite tries from Bodene Thompson and Ash Handley.

The Giants lived dangerously after frittering away an 12-4 lead, built on two tries from skipper Aiden Sezer, but will feel they deserved the victory after having three tries disallowed.
