Hull KR have announced the immediate signing of promising fullback, Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e from Keighley Cougars until the end of 2023. Laulu-Togaga’e will rejoin the Cougars on-loan with immediate effect until the end of the season.
The former Leicester Tigers junior linked up with Keighley last winter after the shutdown of Leicester’s academy due to Covid-19. In doing so, he joined his father and fellow fullback, Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e at Cougar Park.
Head Coach, Tony Smith spoke to hullkr.co.uk, noting his excitement to work with one of the game’s rising talents: “We are delighted to get Phoenix, he’s an exciting young player and I think he’s ready for full-time rugby league and a full-time environment.
🗣: "Some of the skills that Phoenix has got, we can't coach. He's got good speed and electric feet, able to step off either foot. I'm looking forward to his progression."

“I think he’s ready to compete with fellow players for Super League status, it won’t take him long whether it’s before the end of this season or into next season, I think he’s ready for that.
“With some of the attributes he has got, he will be pushing some people that are more experienced than him in many ways.
“He’s a huge talent, a really exciting talent. I am looking forward to coaching him. These are very exciting times for Phoenix but also very exciting times for us. It’s a real honour that he chose to come to us over a number of teams that were vying for his services.”
