Bennett to add more salt to Seibold’s wounds
There is no bigger coaching rivalry in the NRL than Wayne Bennett and Anthony Seibold. Bennett was plenty irate when the Broncos ditched him for Seibold, who had just one season in the NRL. Bennett proceeded to drag out his depature, replace Seibold at Souths and then torture his rival mercilessly.
That torture will continue with Souths absolutely the play against Brisbane. The Bunnies won the last two games in style and Bennett has never lost to Seibold. Souths have covered five of their last seven as a favourite away from ANZ. The South Sydney backline should have a field day against a questionable Brisbane back seven.
The Broncos simply do not hold form. They have covered just six of 18 at Suncorp off a win of seven-plus and just four of 12 at Suncorp off conceding 20. The loss of Tevita Pangai Jnr should not be underestimated.
While Souths should win, the top play is the over with high-scoring angles every which way. The last six clashes between the teams have all hit 42 points. The over has hit in 26 of the last 41 Broncos games at Suncorp and in 21 of 30 at the ground when they are off scoring 28 or more. The over is 19-9 when Souths are $1.90 or shorter and away from ANZ at night.
The Wolf sees a rout here. The over is the play and it should come on the back of a big Souths win.
