With three wins in four games, Leeds are currently purring. A 36-0 hammering of Warrington last weekend shocked the Rugby League fraternity, but that drubbing raised the Rhinos to fourth in the table. Toronto, on the other hand, have lost their opening five games – including a 32-0 defeat to St Helens in round five – to prop up the Super League table.
It appears as though the Rhinos have finally clicked into gear after a number of impressive victories, whilst Toronto seemingly cannot buy a win.
Team changes
For Richard Agar’s Leeds, Jack Walker drops out of the squad as Liam Sutcliffe comes back after injury. The Leeds squad in full: Harry Newman, Konrad Hurrell, Ash Handley, Rob Lui, Luke Gale, Ava Seumanufagai, Matt Prior, Alex Mellor, Rhyse Martin, Brad Dwyer, Liam Sutcliffe, Richie Myler, Adam Cuthbertson, Mikolaj Oledzki, Cameron Smith, Callum McLelland, Luke Briscoe, James Donaldson, Alex Sutcliffe, Tom Holroyd, Joe Greenwood.
Ex-Rhinos and current Toronto boss Brian McDermott names an unchanged 20-man squad. The Toronto squad in full: Gareth O’Brien, Matty Russell, Ricky Leutele, Liam Kay, Josh McCrone, Adam Sidlow, Andy Ackers, Anthony Mullally, Andrew Dixon, Bodene Thompson, Jon Wilkin, Darcy Lussick, Gadwin Springer, Tom Olbison, Blake Wallace, Sonny Bill Williams, Hakim Miloudi, Tony Gigot, Jack Wells, Ben Kilner. Despite being named in the squad, Darcy Lussick is still struggling with a hernia injury so will not play a part.
Last time they met
The Rhinos and the Wolfpack have met just once, with Toronto actually coming up smelling of roses with a 17-16 victory back in the 2018 Super 8s.
ERL Prediction
Leeds look an incredibly well-balanced side with Luke Gale and Robert Lui in the halves. And, with Brad Dwyer and Richie Myler playing exceptionally well too, the West Yorkshire side are likely to be far too strong for the top-flight strugglers this weekend.
Leeds Rhinos for the win.
