Melbourne Storm v Gold Coast Titans: Round 23 Preview

The Storm will look to put an uncharacteristic loss last round behind them when they host the bottom placed Titans on Sunday.

In the biggest odds mismatch of the season, the Storm opened as 19.5-point favourites against Gold Coast, who are priced at a huge $7.50 in the head-to-head market.

A 36-12 loss to the Eels was the Titans’ ninth defeat in 10 games and they have won just four times this season. Their road form is the worst in the league, with just two away wins in 2019.

Melbourne led an 18-0 lead slip against Canberra to lose 22-18 and will field an unchanged starting side for this match. They played the Titans just a few weeks ago on the Gold Coast after coach Garth Brennan was sacked and rested all of their State of Origin players, but still prevailed 38-18.

The Wolf expects a ruthless Melbourne performance where they could clock up a half century and run away with things as they don’t often lose two in a row.

Wolf Facts

  • The Storm have conceded the least amount of line breaks per game with 2.3, whilst the Titans have conceded the most with 5.4 a game.
  • Last week’s loss against the Raiders was the first time ever that the Storm had let slip an 18-point
    lead in their history.
  • The Titans eighth loss in a row last week is now an unwanted club record. It surpasses their seven-loss streak in 2017.
H2H: Storm -19.5 ($1.90)
Value: Storm 41+ ($7)
