The Roosters and Rabbitohs meet for the second time in as many weeks, but this time there is more on the line, with a spot in the preliminary finals up for grabs for the winner. This is the 12th finals games between the two proud clubs, with Souths holding a 6-5 edge.
Last week it was the Bunnies who came out on top for the second time in 2019, prevailing 16-10 at ANZ Stadium. Two tries in three minutes turned the game on its head in the second half for Souths after they fell behind 10-2.
Sam Burgess again drew the eye of the judiciary, suspended this time for hair pulling, while Dane Gagai misses with a hamstring injury. They are two huge outs for the Bunnies. The Chooks go from strength to strength, welcoming back experienced players Luke Keary, Siosiua Taukeiaho, Brett Morris and Mitch Aubusson from a stint on the sidelines.
This is the first final to be played at the SCG since the 1987 Grand Final, with the last final contested between the Chooks and Bunnies taking place in last season’s preliminary final, which the Roosters won 12-4.
The Wolf expects a close match on Friday night and despite the Bunnies’ outs, they will be a stern test for the Roosters. Expect a low scoring match and the Roosters head to head price of $1.36 is anything but value, so taking Souths and the points is the play.
