Wests grabbed a valuable two points and points differential in their 46-4 thumping of the Knights at Campbelltown. That victory leaves the Tigers just a point behind the Broncos in ninth spot on the table, with matches remaining against the Dragons and Sharks. They will fancy themselves to beat the 15th placed Dragons at the SCG on Sunday.
It is an unchanged Tigers side, with Josh Reynolds named to start at hooker, but he could be shifted back to the bench as he was a week ago. For the Dragons, their season was over weeks ago and last week’s 34-12 loss to the Roosters was another horrible performance by the Big V, who fell behind 34-0 after 50 minutes.
The last time these two met was in round 23 last season, with the Saints winning 20-10 at Leichhardt Oval. The nominated road team has won four of the past five matches between these two clubs, who have played off at a host of venues in recent times.
St George give up the third most points, second most tries and second most run metres in the NRL, so it’s no surprise they find themselves near the bottom of the standings. The Wolf doesn’t expect them to turn a corner against a Wests side with plenty of play for. The Tigers need this win and will get it by double digits.
