Toronto v Castleford

Newly-promoted Toronto have been making waves in Rugby League the past few seasons and now they finally have the chance to take it to the big boys in the top tier.

The Wolfpack never seem to be far from the limelight and that became even more true with the quite unbelievable capture of Sonny-Bill Williams for what was reported to be a $10 million move in November 2019. That, in itself, will be worth the admission money alone to see Toronto in action this season.

Castleford, on the other hand, lost their key talisman Luke Gale to Leeds alongside Greg Minikin to Hull KR and Mitch Clark to Leigh. Head coach Daryl Powell has brought in new blood with George Griffin, Tyla Hepi, Danny Richardson, Derrell Olpherts and Sosaia Feki joining the Tigers’ ranks.

Injuries proved to be key for Castleford in 2019, and, they already seem to be struggling in that department. Mike McMeeken, Junior Moors, Alex Foster, Matt Cook, Jesse Sene-Lefao and Adam Milner all appear to be ruled out for round one, heaping pressure on the Tigers before the season even begins.

Toronto will be hoping to smell blood at Headingley’s double-header on Sunday. And, Castleford need to be on their game if they are to take the two points against an unknown quantity.
