Rachel Ankomah is the team manager for the Skolars rugby league team in Ghana, having been in post for just over 12 months. She has also become a shareholder of the club.
Her management skills for on and off field matters are exceptional. Rachel has a genuine concern for the welfare of her players, and she has the ability to identify and suggest solutions to issues quickly and accurately.
Already she has had an impact as she supported the Skolars to achieve second place in the 2019 Ghana Rugby League Championship. She is being noticed by other clubs as well as she was recognised for her role in the February Series of the Ghana 9s.
She also supports the development of rugby league across Ghana by being a member of the match review p panel and was recently asked to be the acting co-ordinator for Ghana Female Rugby League
Rachel is driven to achieve goals for herself, her club and for Ghana Rugby League saying:
“My over-arching goal is to make rugby league well known nationwide and globally and to provide the platform for potential and current players to showcase their skills and talents to the world.
“Rugby league is very attractive to the youth and it’s important to give them opportunities and encourage them to play.
“As team manager for my club I want to support everyone to make Skolars the best rugby league club in Ghana but most importantly I want to ensure that the welfare of my players is always at the top of the list.”
