Hull FC coach Lee Radford admits his team needs to fix its attack after it went down 22-12 to Huddersfield.

The Black & Whites could have jumped up to second on the table with a win, but instead remain in fifth and in danger of missing the semi-finals with two rounds left.

Hull FC could only manage two tries against the relegation-threatened Giants who headed into the match on a three-game losing run.

“I’m massively disappointed and frustrated with the result,” Radford.

“I thought there was not a great deal between the two sides tonight. We conceded two tries, two from kicks and two from one on one misses on the wing and unfortunately that has resulted in a loss.

“There were some really key moments in the game that didn’t go our way, some from our doing or some from the bounce of the ball.

“We wanted that and we were desperate for that one. I don’t think effort was a worry.”

The Black & Whites lead Huddersfield 12-10 a half-time but did not score a point in the second half.

“It was chalk and cheese from the Salford game,” Radford said.

“I thought our middles did a real good job of getting up the field and getting us some ruck wins but what we did on the back end of it; we need more from important people in our team to capitalise on that.

“It’s something to work on, I can’t see a positive result in worrying about it too much. It’s something different from last week, last week was our defence. This week it was offence. They keep you busy.”

Hull FC were booed off the field at the KCOM Stadium by their own fans, but Radford didn’t appear too concerned.

“I thought the fans were awesome tonight, they tried to pick up us up at certain times in the game,” the coach said.

“I thought they were fantastic. I didn’t hear the boys being honest, but if they did then that’s what you pay your £15 for.

“But I think they did a really good job of egging our important players to get on the ball tonight. It makes a difference.”

The Black & Whites face Castleford next week and Radford believes victory in that game will confirm a place in the finals for his team.

“Cas have lost, we beat Cas next week and we make the five I think,” he said.

“Almost guaranteed we go four above them. We lose, we don’t. So… you want to put a belt around your waist you want to knock the champion out. That’s what we have to go and do next week, we have to win.”
