England Performance Unit staff recently took part in their latest ‘England Coaches Club’ series of professional development seminars, with Rugby Union world cup winner and lifelong League fan Will Greenwood.
Lancastrian Greenwood has recently co-written World Class: How to Lead, Learn and Grow like a Champion with businessman Ben Fennell, which explores the key characteristics of world-class performance. During the hour-long session arranged by England Knights assistant coach Paul Sculthorpe, Greenwood shared some of these characteristics as well as personal insight from a career which culminated in 2003 with England’s world cup triumph.
Paul Sculthorpe says: “I know Will personally and he’s a first class fella who I’ve heard speak on a number of occasions, one of them being for the senior England men’s team in 2016, so I knew he would be a great match for the England Coaches Club.
“In 2022 we are aiming to win three World Cups, something Will has experience of. He’s a Rugby League fan, and was very forthcoming in passing on his experiences and some of the things that helped his team achieve the biggest prize. A massive thanks goes to him for his time and input to help England RL achieve our goals. The feedback from our coaches has been fantastic.”
Regular development sessions with guests from a wide range of professions have been a feature of England’s preparation for RLWC2021 and will continue into 2022.
