Sam Moa will return to Catalans Dragons as an Assistant Coach ahead of the 2022 Betfred Super League season.

The former New Zealand and Tonga international returns to the club one year after leaving to spend his final playing season with Lezignan in the French Elite Championship.

Moa was part of the side that lifted the 2018 Challenge Cup at Wembley Stadium and will now be at the helm as the 2021 Betfred Super League Grand Finalists look to go one better next season.

Moa said: “I have spent the past year with Lezignan and I have a greater appreciation for what Rugby League means to the people of this region of France.

“I am very grateful for my time as a player and assistant coach with Lezignan where I have gained some valuable experience.

“I look forward to working alongside Steve McNamara, Thomas Bosc and the staff at the Dragons as a collective in order to help the team and the club take the necessary steps to fulfilling its huge potential.”

Catalans boss Steve McNamara added: “We are delighted that Sam has re-joined the Dragons as an assistant coach.

“He has a great knowledge in the specific areas I want him to work with a great personality and energy to match. He will be an outstanding addition to our staff.”
