Following a year’s hiatus owing to Coronavirus restrictions, the England Universities Rugby League Representative programme is back for the 2021/22 academic year.

As in previous years, the long-established selection programme starts with regional representative games, which are full 80-minute games against another region, all played at a central location on Saturday 27th November 2021. Fixtures will be confirmed in due course.

Following the regional representative games, selected players will progress to the University Rugby League Origin Game, to be played in February, which sees the North (made up of North West, North East and Yorkshire) take on the South (selected from South East, South West and Midlands).

Following the Origin game, 26 players will be selected for the England Universities squad who will compete in the RFL President’s Cup and the Student Four Nations tournaments.

There are some exciting voluntary opportunities within the programme at regional level this year:

North East – Assistant Coach
North West – Assistant Coach and Team Manager
Yorkshire – Head Coach
Midlands – Assistant Coach
South East – Head Coach and Assistant Coach
South West – Team Manager

Volunteer staff from the regional representative programme will be selected to form the respective Origin team squads.
