Scotland are hoping to entice New Zealand Warriors hooker Wayde Egan to play for them at this year’s World Cup.
Egan was born and raised in country NSW and made his NRL debut for 2018.
The 24-year-old joined the Warriors in 2020 and is eligible for the Bravehearts through his heritage.
He has made over 80 career appearances in the NRL.
Scotland international Lachlan Coote is part of the team trying to convince Egan to turn out for the European country.
“My manager said to try and get in touch with him,” he told Everything Rugby League.
Coote debuted for Scotland in 2016 and has played three tests for the nation of his grandmother.
The fullback is looking to don a Scottish shirt again at the end of this year.

“Yeah the plan is to play for Scotland. It could be my last World Cup,” he said.
“I haven’t played in a World Cup before, I played in the Four Nations with Scotland in 2016.
“But I haven’t played in a World Cup before so it will be my probably first and only one at the end of this year.
“But I’m keen to put the hand up if the body’s feeling good.
Scotland are expected to field a mostly UK-based playing squad that will likely include Salford’s Ryan Brierley, Danny Addy and Sam Luckley, Coote’s Hull KR teammate Kane Linnett, Wakefied’s Liam Hood and Toulouse’s Matty Russell, among others.
The Scots could also potentially draw up on NRL players such as Nicho Hynes, Euan Aitken, Campbell Graham and Kevin Proctor. The four would strengthen the Bravehearts’ squad tremendously.
Centre Aitken played three Tests for the Bravehearts six years ago.
Scotland have been placed in Group B for the World Cup alongside Australia, Fiji and Italy.
They face a real fight on their hands getting out of a group that includes the current World Cup champions and the Bati, who have been semi-finalists in the past three tournaments.
Scotland open their World Cup campaign against the Azzurri at Kingston Park on October 16.
